The MA Model 3.0 writing team is pleased to present the MA Model 3.0 document based on changes in the ASCA National Model 4th edition (2019), input from school counselors and our colleagues at DESE. MASCA thanks the volunteer MA Model Writing team, school counseling practitioners and counselor educators, who contributed time and expertise to develop the MA Model 3.0:   Dina Sibilia, Brenda Richardson, Christine Scafidi, Christine Shaw, Co-Chairs Cynthia Esielionis, Megan Bizarro and Co-Chair/Editor Helen O’Donnell.  Endorsed by both MA DESE and MA School Counselors Association's Governing Board, the MA Model 3.0: Framework for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs, is an evolving document to guide professional best practice.  It was presented as a professional courtesy to the field in Spring of 2020 as a public domain resource.

Social Emotional Learning Resources
SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions (CASEL).  Explicit SEL instruction refers to consistent opportunities for students to cultivate, practice, and reflect on social and emotional competencies in ways that are developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive. These opportunities provide dedicated time to focus on social and emotional competencies.

The following provides school counselors and administrators with easy-to-use communications tools to increase student engagement and connect with families.
