Western Mass Counselors Association

The Western Massachusetts Counselors Association (WMCA) was founded in 1946 as the Western Massachusetts Personnel and Guidance Association.
The organization consists of school counselors and adjustment counselors of all levels, as well as representatives from area colleges and universities.
While the majority of members are based in Hampden County, membership ranges Greenfield in the north to Windsor, Connecticut in the south.

Each spring WMCA awards several scholarships to relatives of our members. In addition, we present two awards, the WMCA Counselor of
the Year, to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the field of guidance and counseling; and the WMCA Rising Star, to someone
relatively new to the profession who has quickly demonstrated both skills and commitment to the profession.

The Association meets four times per year, in October, December, March and May, rotating between the local community, state and private
colleges which serve as the hosts or regional schools held at a local restaurant.  Meetings sometimes  include a professional development component, as well as dinner and a time to network and socialize.

WMCA coordinates a fall full-day Professional Development program, typically hosted at a local college or university.

Annual membership in WMCA is $20.00 per year for professionals and is free for graduate students. There is no cost for retired members who wish
to remain active. The cost to attend the dinner meeting is $6 for members.

For more information about joining, please contact Jason Phillips, Membership Chair.
