EMERGING LEADERS

The MASCA Emerging Leaders (EL) Program has existed since 2007 and since then we have had over 75 participants.

Goal:
The goal of the MASCA Emerging Leaders Program is to identify potential leaders within the school counseling profession in Massachusetts and provide them with opportunities to become involved with MASCA.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Be a MASCA member
- Be a licensed and employed as a school counselor/school adjustment counselor in Massachusetts
- Have never been a MASCA board member
- Have a desire to give to the profession

Responsibilities:
- Join and participate on a minimum of one of the standing MASCA committees or a special task force project
- Attend at least 2 MASCA Governing Board meetings (in-person or virtually)
- Write at least 1 article for the Counselor’s Notebook (month determined by editor)
- Attend the MASCA Spring 2026 Conference (date TBA)
- Opportunity to attend the MASCA and ASCA North Atlantic Region Leadership Development Institutes (MASCA is August 3 & 4, 2025; NAR is TBD)

Application Deadline:
Application must be submitted by April 11, 2025 at 11:59pm.

Selection Process:

-A selection team will choose up to five Emerging Leaders for the 2025/2026 school year. Selected emerging leaders will be notified by May 1, 2025. -Nominees may be interviewed briefly either virtually or by phone by one of the members of the selection team.
-Team members will rate nominees based on this rubric.
