February 12 SAC/SSW (School Adjustment Counselor/School Social Worker) SIG Meeting

The SAC/SSW (School Adjustment Counselor/School Social Worker) SIG will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, February 12 from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM on the topic of substance use prevention and intervention. This Special Interest Group is geared for members serving as a School Adjustment Counselor/School Social Worker or in a related clinical role. Our special guest will be Brianna Berneche, Director of the Hampden-Wilbraham Partners for Youth Coalition and the Grants Manager of the Center for Health & Safety at Hampden-Wilbraham Regional School District. Brianna will share about their district’s incorporation of Mass General's iDECIDE program for students who are caught using substances on school grounds as part of the efforts to reduce suspensions while teaching factual information and healthy decision-making skills. Brianna will also share information about their district’s comprehensive approach to prevention and intervention. Please come prepared to share relevant policies and practices from your schools.
